Surplus stock of an own brand is harder to clear than an anonymous lot. The products are recognisable, and the seller does not want them turning up at a rock-bottom price in its own market tomorrow. That was the situation for this Swiss company: around 60,000 drinking bottles, thermos bottles and food pots of the KOOR brand had to go, but not back onto the Swiss market.
The seller was therefore looking for a trading partner able to take the entire quantity in one go and sell it outside Switzerland. Quickly, because stock takes up space and money. And carefully, because the brand's market position was not to suffer.
The agreements were clear. Sales outside Switzerland. Brand protection: the products were not to reappear on the Swiss market. The full volume of around 60,000 units in one go. Fast handling. And every commercial agreement honoured.
Firma Reinders bought the lot and immediately put its international trading network to work. Part of the bottles and food pots went to major retailers in Spain. The rest found buyers in four other European countries. Every sale took the agreement on Switzerland into account, so that the products would not surface there after all.
Within four weeks, everything had been bought, sold and delivered.
Around 60,000 items sold in five European countries, with deliveries to major retailers in Spain among others. The sales restriction for Switzerland was respected. The whole project was completed within four weeks.
This project shows that Firma Reinders can also take over branded stock: large quantities, delivered fast, with clear agreements on where the products do and do not end up.
