In February 2025, a company in Germany was holding 2.6 million bags of crisps the supermarkets would no longer take: the shelf life was too short. Firma Reinders bought the entire lot, paid up front and moved 175 truckloads to buyers in seven countries within six months.

The crisps had been made for the shelves of major European supermarket chains. By February 2025, however, the remaining shelf life had become too short for that route: four months at most. A company in Germany was left with 2.6 million bags in various pack sizes. Every week the stock sat in the warehouse, the lot lost value.
The regular channels were closed. Supermarkets do not take crisps that are close to their best-before date. The seller needed a buyer who could take quantities like these in one go, pay quickly and sell the bags outside the usual channels.
The seller set conditions. Some of the products were not to be sold in certain countries. Sales therefore had to be controlled, through channels where it was clear in advance where the crisps would end up. Discretion was part of the deal.
The seller also wanted certainty about the money and the logistics. No payment afterwards based on what might be sold, and no trucks that failed to show up.
Firma Reinders bought the entire lot and paid in advance. For the seller, the stock problem was solved at that moment. From then on, the risk was with Reinders.
Over the following six months, truck after truck was loaded in Germany, 175 in total, almost seven a week. Each load of around 15,000 bags went to a buyer from Reinders' own trading network, spread across seven European countries. Firma Reinders organised all transport itself. Before every sale, the destination was checked against the list of excluded markets. That is how the agreements with the seller held, right up to the last truck.
Within six months, the entire lot of 2.6 million bags was sold, before the best-before date ran out. The seller had received payment in advance and did not have to organise any sales or transport. The agreed restrictions were honoured.
This project shows what Firma Reinders can handle: a lot of food with a short shelf life, in volumes of hundreds of truckloads, paid for in advance and sold within the agreed boundaries.
